Pirates 4 de 5 skipas Egypt send off

The weather outside of O.R. Tambo international airport was quite agreeable to the event. Though one could not particularly see evidence of Pirates supporters from outside, as soon as you entered the airport you could hear and be led by the singing and chanting of the die-hard fans of Pirates and a few other teams, everyone there in unity for the Pirates 4 de 5 skipas Egypt send-off that was a great success.

A great sound system was on set, along with a well prepared stage and all forms of banners from the Primedia organisation Lead SA, Pirates and the department of Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA). Pirates’ big sponsor Vodacom was represented by a marketing executive from the company that said a very few words of encouragement and support.

The honourable minister of Sports Mr Fikile Mbalula managed to electrify the crowd with a lengthy speech about war and patriotism. He was quite a feat to watch and even more so the crowd as it fed from the palm of his hand, erupting into a roar at every punch line he uttered, quite a compelling short man.

The nights’ festivities ended off with a beautiful photo op of the entire team with Minister Mbalula, shortly after the team went around saying hi to the fans, shaking hands, signing autographs and pausing for pictures with the fans. The team was not about to keep a whole aeroplane’s flight from taking off on time so they soon had to depart.
