R&S Consulting Annual Conference in George
I know some of you well-travelled people will probably laugh, when I tell you that it was my very first time in a plane this weekend. As the saying goes, “there’s always a first time for everything”, right, unless you are one of those special babies that came to earth by plane. Lol.
I’m sure I’ll be speaking for a lot of my R&S ‘family’ members when I say the past weekend was an awesome one, and one that we will cherish for years to come. We were honoured and treated to a trip down the lovely town of George, by our delightful R&S Consulting. The 7th to the 9th of June 2013 was R&S Consulting Annual Conference.
I know most people equate conferences to boring, long and formal discussions about finances and strategic plans for the company. I promise you though, this annual conference is far different from others and I’m not just saying this because I’m an employee of R&S Consulting. My friend Leeann and I were in for a surprise when we learned that the conference was in fact about US as individuals.
We looked into how technology has evolved and how we can use it to make a difference in the world. We were also inspired and motivated to go out there and make things happen (Nope!! I’m not being paid to write this article by Nedbank, lol), instead of just standing by and letting life pass us by. This session of the conference also allowed us to catch a glimpse of the future as far as technology is concerned. It was truly inspirational.
I bet you can’t, but wonder where we stayed during the conference; we were booked into an exquisite five star hotel called the Hyatt Regency. The place is fit for Kings and Queens, from the bedrooms we slept in to the dining places where we were served the most scrumptious meals known to man. From the Queen’s traditional English breakfast to other delicacies known by names I fear to utter. Quite the indulging and well-planned dietary menu inclusive of everyone’s preference.
The Gala dinner and or Award ceremony was a glamorous night littered with the gorgeous people who make R&S. Everyone was quite happy with the exquisite décor, delicately delicious food and entertainment devised just to get us sweating. On the list of guests to entertain us was SA’s esteemed comedian Joey Rasdien who made sure that we laughed until our tummies hurt.
Also present was the sexy and sultry all female group The Muses, who made us move to the sounds of Adele and the late Miriam Makeba’s Phatha phatha. My joy-filled colleagues enjoyed the phatha-phatha song so much that they requested The Muses to perform it again and they gladly indulged us, and the dancing continued.
I conclude my article with a quote I heard from our energetic and fun Master of Ceremony Lawrie G who said “Life is not about how many breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away”. R&S Consulting Annual Conference in George was indeed a breath taking experience!
